“Disabled Person(s) Fire Risk Assessments should be provided by experts, who understand not only fire safety and what the law requires, but who are also aware of how to properly implement the required changes with regard to safe manual and client handling for the disabled population in a practical and cost effective way, without compromising the safety of some of our society’s vulnerable population or those assigned the job of coming to their aid in an emergency situation.” Sue Ferguson, PhysiCare. PhysiCare is a company of specialist Chartered Physiotherapists working throughout the UK, and in conjunction with PEEPs Ltd. providing a range of services designed to provide safety from fire for disabled people and improve the musculoskeletal health of workers to ensure best practice in manual handling, client (patient) handling and ergonomics. A large part of our work involves advising on and risk assessing the safe evacuation of disabled persons (and the various methods of same) including the development of PEEPs. We also undertake training with relevant equipment manufacturers (e.g. for evacuation equipment, Paraid, Ferno etc.) PhysiCare's course covers the use of such equipment both unladen and laden with the weight of a client. So, whatever evacuation equipment you have, you won’t need to arrange separate training. In particular, our expertise is invaluable in learning how to transfer the disabled individual, who cannot transfer independently, into such equipment to allow safe evacuation to commence. |
